One of My Favorites

This is my first Christmas ornament! Or hang around anytime ornament. The gray part is just 2-1/2" in diameter. Btw, those black beads are sooo tiny, yet they make a difference when scanning - the way the yellow scallop is out of focus. This is why I need a professional photographer on staff.

I've stitched bunches in variations of red & green too, plus other colors. This is the only one I've completed so far. That's a black eyelet for the hanger part. I intend to have a little tree in my booth to display these.

I haven't quite figured out what to charge yet - always the hard part. If anyone's game, I'd be interested hearing in the comments what you would pay for this. I have a cost-figuring spreadsheet I use but my work is more labor intensive than materials intensive. I have a hard time with that, balancing what (I think) the market will bear. I would charge $6 if this design was on a Sticky Notes pad. Oh - I forgot to mention - this ornament is the same on both sides. So to me, $8 feels right. I haven't yet, but I will time myself stitching one of these - it helps with pricing of course - and that's a question I get at shows a
lot.

I had my follow-up appointment with my beloved sleep doctor Tuesday afternoon. Guess what? I have sleep apnea! "What's my number? I want to know my number!" He said I stop breathing an average of 54 times/hour. I guess I seemed a little disappointed or unimpressed maybe, that it wasn't higher. I asked him what's the highest number people have, "like 100, right?" He said that's severe sleep apnea but 54 is pretty darn good - that's like once/minute. Oh yeah.

So I have to do another sleepover, wired up again, with the
CPAP machine so they can adjust it (remotely) until I'm sleeping soundly. I knew I had to do another sleepover but I didn't know how they adjusted the pressure. I guess I thought I had to do that. This way makes way more sense, duh! Leave it to the professionals to figure out - good idea!

I kind of whined at the doctor, how far out are appointments being booked? I knew he didn't know but he suggested I slip the appointment maker a $20, or even $50 if I'm desperate. But I didn't have to because they had just gotten a cancellation while I sat there, "I'll take it!" - so I'm going back Friday night for that
CPAP sleepover.

She told me they are supposed to book the next follow-up appointment 2 weeks after that (for insurance reasons) but she thinks that's ridiculous because people want to get going with their
treatment. So she gave me an appointment next week. Yay!

He had me watch a 10 minute video, in case I needed convincing that
CPAP is the way to go. Preachin' to the choir, doc - I've been sold for weeks.

I was proud I got to tell him I'd lost 10 pounds since I saw him last!

I told Steve I bet I don't even know how tired I am or how long I've been like this. I don't know if it works like this, but I think it's been a long, slow road to where I am. And here's what kills me. I think most people would agree that I'm a pretty productive person, right? Wait until I'm well rested and refreshed! I'll be a whirling dervish!

The older man in the video said he feels 20 years younger. I wouldn't mind that - having a 54 year old mind in a 34 year old body.

Stay tuned....

Ornament: I have no idea, but that is a TON of work. Detailed work. I was going to ask you how long it took you to make one, but you already said you needed to time yourself. I think that would make all the difference.

Every time I see CPAP I read it as "CRAP". :P

Wow that ornament is beautiful and so much stitching and so tiny. I will stick with the big circles thank you very much! Good luck with your sleepover. I don't know how you do so much now I can't imagine how much you will do when you are rested!!! And great going with the weight loss, that will help a lot too, I'm sure.

My sleep clinic report indicated that I was "moderate" but on "the milder side" of moderate. Don't remember the numbers (although I have hardcopy around here somewhere). After discussion with my doctor I am waiting until December to see if I can loose some weight and (if so) if a retest will show sufficient improvement -- or I will do as you are doing and have a sleep test to set me up with a CPAP machine.
