I went to Pier 1 on my lunch hour yesterday to look for new display pieces for my hand stitched paper pins and one of the first displays I came to was a clearance rack which held a tiered cake plate, just like I was looking for, marked half-price at $12. It had a weird line on it but my pins would cover it - but I still thought $12 was too much for something that "damaged".
I walked around more - man, I love that store. I found the two smaller tier sizes, I think they were marked down too. I found another "as is" large plate with a chip in it which I could live with easier than that funky line that looked like glue.
But I didn't want to impulse buy so I didn't buy them.
Back at work, I remembered Ikea so I checked their site.
$14.99! This would work perfectly - and it's glass too. Except when I slowed down to read the site - only available in stores, not online. This is where my mind went: I can always talk Gretchen into a trip to Ikea. We've gone to the closest one - it's in Canada, we took Mom on a road trip there a bunch of years ago. Gretchen's been many more times than that. But I'm not sure about the new passport/special license laws - too much work. Let's see - the next closest one is only 5 hours and 18 minutes away, in NJ.
Maybe one of my beloved blog readers lives near an Ikea and would buy three of these and ship them to me - for postage and a finder's fee, of course. I mean, what's the point of having a blog if you can't inconvenience your blog-reader-friends?
Last night I was grocery shopping at Wegmans, who has everything on Earth under one roof - sure enough, just what I'm looking for! It was $25 but it didn't require an investment of time or money I can't spare. It's made by Anchor Hocking, so I checked their site - they don't sell to the public, but they are available at Wegmans of course, Target and a bunch of other local stores. (I checked overstock.com too - none there.)
This is just what I envisioned! I can use them separately or together. They'll take up more room than my previous set-up but I can wrap them in bubble wrap and figure a compact way to transport them. And hopefully not fall and drop them!
I've been wanting to use even more vertical space in my display so I'm off to a good start.

In other news, my friend Maria tells me I can buy replacement bars for my tent! I'm not sure I ever would have considered that. I thought they were welded or riveted or something not replaceable. Duh. So I'll check out that option this weekend. I bought the tent for a June 2009 show so if there was a year warranty - it's just over. Isn't that the way? I don't care, I'll pay for the bars - gotta be much cheaper than a new tent! I was hoping to buy a new tent with heavier duty walls, but I'd rather earn more money first and work towards that later.

I mentioned yesterday feeling sad and depressed and still a bit "off". About mid-afternoon, the old Stefani returned and she's stayed returned. Yay! I like Happy Me much better.
I thought of two more funny things that happened over the weekend though. Remember my story about falling and the 3 gregarious "carnies" who came to my rescue? After he was sure I was okay, the one teased me about my graceful swan dive? He also said, "Don't worry, you'll see it on You Tube soon enough!"
I was telling someone at work that yesterday and suddenly thought how awful that would be if it really did show up on the Internet, available forever and ever. So I went to You Tube and searched Fairport Canal Days and a bunch of stuff came up! It was all musical acts and normal stuff. I searched some other unflattering things, didn't see myself and decided to put my paranoia away. I'm such a goofball.
The other thing was I asked Steve for the receipts for the sand and pillowcases he bought on Saturday as additional weight for the tent. He said he was covering the purchase.
Here's my convincing argument:
"As a business owner, I don't want my go-fer paying for it - I'll cover my business expense, thankyouverymuch."
Steve replied, "Go-fer? I thought I was more like a partner. You know, like in a law firm."
Isn't that sad and sweet? I felt really bad for calling him a go-fer! Especially after all the bragging I do about him being the mayor of The Village that keeps Team Stefani going. We laughed it off because it was pretty funny - but in fun or not, I'll never call him a go-fer again! What was I thinking??
Anyway, Stefani's back and I could not be happier about that.

Hi Stefani,
I thought I'd posted a second comment yesterday with the link to the 'parts' page at EZ-up, but it's not there. Must have forgotten to click on a button or something!
Anyway, here you go:
Just look up your model and hopefully you can identify the parts you need from the diagram. If not, call them up and they can help you figure it out, I'm sure.
Good luck!
(... my life has been total chaos for a while, ergo the dormant blog. Now we're in the midst of a move to PA [more chaos!], but hopefully things will settle down after that and I can pick up again with some sort of semi-sane life :-)
Okay, see, I'm totally scattered. The EZ-up website wasn't loading before, so I went on to compose the rest of the comment with the intention of going back to get the link and then I forgot. Oh brother. Anyway, here it is, for real:

Sorry about that!

5 hours and 18 minutes to Ikea in New Jersey? I was going to suggest the one by New Haven (thinking about the drive from the Binghamton area over to Connecticut, but upon thinking about it, it does take a long time to get from your area down to Binghamton... We've only gone to Ikea a couple of times (it's about 90 miles from us) but I feel that we might get there sometime now that Jill & Eli are living in that area. (Guess I'll first have to wait for my foot to fully heal before try to walk around that huge place.)
*sigh* I know I've said this before, but I really miss Wegman's.
