Art & Whimsy Review

I was set up in The Study - with my new friend Liz, from Fuzzy Bunny. She makes soaps, candles, lip balms, etc. and she hand spins her own dyed yarn, made out of all sorts of interesting fibers. Cool stuff. We bartered a bit so I came home with 3 bars of her beautiful soaps (including her best smeller, as she said at the end of the evening, when we were both punchy and tired - instead of best seller - cracked us up).

I felt a little guilty that I had that big comfy worn leather chair to sit in all night (and stitch). Not guilty enough to get out of it, however.

This round table was in the study so I used that, rather than bring in my own. I did the whole load-in, load-out thing alone because the hours were such that I didn't want to ask Steve. I missed my Chief Roadie though. So I was happy to have a somewhat abbreviated set-up from my usual. And really happy to be on the first floor!

This is the entrance - and those two big lion statues I told you about. This tent provided a walk-through area to buy tickets and check coats.

The color scheme was yellow with lemons abounding. Isn't this gorgeous? These sweets were served in the dining room.

The savories were served in the kitchen. Look at the size of those posts supporting the island!? See what I mean about everything being BIG? (Even that comfy leather chair I was sitting in was such that if I sat up straight, my feet didn't touch the floor!)

The 30 vendors were all throughout the house. One of my new Rochester Crafters friends, Kelly Powell was located in the master bath - a huge gorgeous room itself.

In the "Downstairs Salon" there was a grand piano and white folding chairs. The entertainment started with a harpist and featured several vocalists throughout the evening, ending with Sue Cotroneo, the owner of the home. She was outstanding. I snuck out to take a peek at her singing and it was standing room only, so I didn't stay long. She's a very friendly woman who made all us vendors feel welcome. Her daughter, I'm guessing is about 4 years old, was running around during set-up, helping everyone. She loved to push my cart down the hall and she helped me set the notepads in the rack. I gave her a notepad as thanks for helping me - she was so cute.

Overall, it was a great experience, very interesting, outstanding people-watching and I made some new vendor friends. Financially, not so much. I covered my entrance fee but not by a lot.

But . . . I have an appointment Monday with the owners of the new Fairport Pharmacy as a possible new wholesale account. Totally made my evening!

Sounds like a great way to spend an evening; bummer about not selling too much though. Love the way your products stand out against the black tablecloth. And why am I not surprised to see your shopping bags are bright green?!

Your photos turned out great! Thanks for the nod, it was great to hang out with you for the evening. I came home and told Travis about "best smellers" and he thinks it should be a new term that we incorporate into the business. Now that I've thought about it some more, I think I just might. I love how these things come about!
